Born on November 25, 1912, Asmahan, whose real name was Amal al-Atrash, was a Syrian singer and actress of the first half of the 20th century. Modern and free, she was the sister of Farid al-Atrash; and perhaps the only singer able to compete with the famous Oum Kalsoum. Her private and public life is worthy of a Hollywood movie and was particularly eventful during the Second World War, where she played spy for Germany, France and Great Britain. She died in 1944, at the age of 32, in a mysterious car accident, leaving only a few recordings. This record features her most popular titles, to be rediscovered by the music enthusiasts of today.

Née un 25 novembre 1912, Asmahan, de son vrai nom Amal El Atrache était une chanteuse et actrice d’origine syrienne de la première moitié du 20e siècle. Libre et moderne, elle était la sœur de Farid El Atrache ; et peut-être la seule capable de rivaliser avec la célèbre Oum Kalsoum. Sa vie aussi bien privée et que publique est digne d’un film hollywoodien et fut particulièrement mouvementée pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale où elle y joua un rôle d’informatrice auprès des Britanniques, des Français, mais aussi des Allemands. Disparue en 1944, à l’âge de 32 ans, dans les conditions mystérieuses d’un accident de voiture, elle a laissé peu d’enregistrements. On retrouve ici ses titres les plus prisés par le public de l’époque, redécouverts par celui d’aujourd’hui.

アラブ音楽史上最高の歌手のひとりであるアスマハーン（1912-44）。その美貌から女優としても活躍した彼女は、当時のアラブ世界に暮らす人々に多大なる影響を与え、また若くして謎の自動車事故で亡くなったこともあり、いまも伝説として語り継がれている。本作はあのウム・クルスーム唯一のライヴァルとも言われた彼女が大きく飛躍を遂げた1937年から、その没年である1944年までに残した素晴らしい歌声を厳選して収録した決定盤だ。タンゴなど当時最先端のポピュラー音楽の要素を取り入れたモダンな音楽性は、兄で偉大な音楽家だったファリッド・エル＝アトラッシュ譲り。そして伝統的なスタイルの曲において、煌びやかでスケールの大きなコブシ回しを伴ったその歌声には、アラブの初期ポピュラー音楽ならではの醍醐味がたくさん詰まっている。

أسمهان ولدت في 25 نوفمبر 1912 إسمها الحقيقي آمال الأطرش أخت الفنان فريد الأطرش اشتهرت بصوتها العذب وأغانيها الرقيقة التي لا زالت حاضرة في أذهان الكثير، إذ قدمت خلال مسيرتها مجموعة ناذرة من الأغنيات، كانت من أبرزها، «مجنون ليلى»، و«الشمس غابت أنوارها»، و«أيها النائم»، كانت الوحيدة التي يمكن ان تنافس ملكة الطرب ام كلثوم يحكى انها اشتغلت مع الاستخبارات الإنجليزية خلال الحرب العالمية التانية كانت حياتها كفيلم هوليودي توفيت تاركة ورائها لغز كبير حول وفاتها، حيث توفيت في ظروف غامضة بعد مشوارها الفني الذي لم يدم طويلاً توجد اغاني ناذرة للفنانة اسمهان اخترناها لكم سنكتشفها اليوم بأغاني كانت معروفة في زمانها
